Cardinals Finish Second in state

For the second straight year, the Potts Camp boys placed second overall in the Class 1A State Track and Field Meet.

The Cardinals finished the meet at Pearl Friday with 73 points, trailing only Tupelo Christian Preparatory School with 137.

“I’m proud of what we accomplished this year,” coach Jeremy Dillard said. “Our goal is always to be relevant in the sport that we are competing in. To be back-to-back 1A state runner-up says that we are just that.”

The Cards’ first-place medalist was Kylan Conners in the 300 meter hurdles.

H.W. Byers, Ashland and Hickory Flat also had representatives in the 1A State Meet. Other first-place finishers included Byers’ Keyonna Washington in the 300 meter hurdles, Ashland’s Derell Anderson in the 100 meter dash and Hickory Flat’s R’Daztiny Harris in the high jump.
