Cardinals drop district game to Seminoles

Markeith Washington continues to like the fight in his team.

He saw it at its best Friday night at home against Smithville, he said. The Cardinals fell 41-6 to the Seminoles, who have a rich football tradition.

“Smithville is by far the best team we’ve played, but our guys also played their best game of the year against them,” Washington said. “My guys stayed together and didn’t quit.”

The Cardinals trailed 14-6 after the opening quarter of the District 2-1A contest. Their touchdown came on Alex Hawkins’ 26-yard run.
