Cardinals Awards Day held

Potts Camp High School’s athletic department is one of the best in the county. The Cardinals gathered for the Winter and Spring Sports award banquet held Thursday, May 4, at Potts Camp High School gymnasium.

Peyton Aldridge was awarded The Cardinal award, and Malasha Faulkner was awarded The Lady Cardinal.

• Boys basketball: Ta Jones, Most Valuable Player; Atravion Kimmons, Best Offensive Player and named to the Mississippi Athletic Conference AllStar Game; Peyton Aldridge, Best Defensive Player and named to North Mississippi Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game

• Girls basketball: Chanyia Collins, Defensive Player of the Year; Malaysia Falkner, Offensive Player of the Year; Raykiah Strickland, Most Valuable Player; Desray Longstreet, Rebounder of the Year; and Ja’Mrie Falkner, Senior Award

• Boys Archery: Brandon Martinez, Most Improved; Neil Stroupe, Best Newcomer; John Harris, Heart of the Cardinal; Dylan’s Rider, Top Male Shooter and Archery In Mississippi Schools All-Star 4th-8th grade

• Girls Archery: Dalyce Henderson, Most Improved; Jordan Williams, Best Newcomer; Madison Skelton, Top Female Shooter, and AIMS All-Star 9th10th grade

• Boys Powerlifting: Malik Faulkner, Lifter of the Year; Jesse Alexander, Most Improved Lifter; Mattox Work, Most Improved Lifter; and Kendric Isom, Leadership Award

• Girls Powerlifting: Jayda Isom, Lifter of the Year; Carson Bennett, Leadership Awards; Charlie Holmes, Most Improved Lifter; and Kristen Taylor, Most Improved Lifter

• Baseball: Ian Clifton, Highest Batting Average; Peyton Aldridge, Most Valuable Player; Austin Culver, Leadership Award; Drew Hogan, Defensive Player of the Year; and Cade Palmer, Most Improved

• Girls Fast Pitch: Malasha Faulkner, Offensive Player of the Year; Charlie Holmes, Defensive Player of the Year; Alyssa Clifton, Most Valuable Player; Haley Ackerman, Most Improved; and Zoe Clark, Heart of the Cardinal

• Girls Track: Malasha Faulkner, Sprinter of the Year; Ja’Mrie Faulkner, Girls Thrower of the Year; Raykiah Stricklen, Most Versatile Award; Bianca Woods, Girls Jumper of the Year; and Camry Shannon, Rookie of the Year

• Boys Track: Mattox Work, Sprinter of the Year; Kendric Isom, Thrower of the Year; Zy Hamer, Most Versatile Award; Ta Jones, Jumper of the Year; and Malachi Brownlee, Rookie of the Year

• Cheerleading: Halley Robinson and Kelley Floyd received the Leadership Award; Katelyn Turnage: Most Improved; Kepler Allen Heart of the Cardinal; and Lexi Shaw, Most Spirited.

Mendy Clifton received the BEBE Mills Memorial Awards. Harlan Stephens received the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Female Athlete of the Year award, and Brayden Clifton received the FCA Male Athlete of the Year.

Other awards were Peyton Aldridge, Ryan Jones, and Jeffrey Moore, all named to Northeast Mississippi Football Coaches Football’s All-Star Team.
