Byhalia wins 3A District tournament

Last week the Byhalia High School Indians faced off in the 3A District tournament with two top contenders for the championship. Byhalia beat Holly Springs High School Hawks Thursday, Feb. 9, with a final score of 69-60. North Panola High School faced the Indians in the last game Friday, Feb. 10. The Indians won the District championship with a final score of 64-59.

The competition was fierce against the Hawks, but the Indians won the game with a final score of 69-60.

Byhalia's Kanaan DeBerry led the score with 23 points. Mario King tallied up 19 points, and Ji'Marion Austin scored 13 points. Romondtrez Tuggles, DeVonte Malone, and Aaron Greer each put four points on the scoreboard, and Tyrus Davis scored two points.

Jabez Jones led the Hawks with 16 points. Jaylen Sims added 15 points. Camron Isom scored 12 points, and Colain Brown brought 10 points to the basket. Geoyl Ambrose scored 4 points. Keonte Jefferson added two points, and Jarrius Thomas scored one point.

North Panola and Byhalia came to win, but only one could be 3A District 2 champs.

North Panola lost to the Indians with a final score of 6459.

Kanaan DeBerry was the top scorer for the Hawks putting 21 points through the hoops.
