Byhalia teams start season with victories

Byhalia basketball teams began the season with wins Saturday.

Both teams claimed hard-fought victories over Coa­homa County in the Olive Branch Classic.

Kavacia Johnson and Leekadra Smith each scored in double digits as the Lady Indians won 53-46.

Johnson added 10 assists and three steals, while Smith grabbed six rebounds.

“We have some little things we need to work on, but I will take it,” coach James Sales said. “I saw a lot of good things. It was our first game, against a pretty good team, and we played pretty well.”
