Byers, Potts Camp earn medals at state
H.W. Byers had a first-place finish in the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A State Track Meet Saturday and Potts Camp three second-place finishes.
The meet was held at Pearl High School.
Javion Smith of Byers claimed first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.69.
Gracie Mills of Potts Camp finished second in both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs. In the 1600, her time was 5:51.22. In the 3200 meter, her time was 12:38.35.
Micah Powers of Potts Camp placed second in the pole vault (10-0).
Also for Byers Saturday, Smith finished third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.75.
Keyonna Washington placed seventh in the girls 400 meter dash. Her time was 1:06.42.
Also for Potts Camp at the state meet, Trell Kimmons placed fourth in both the long jump (20-10) and triple jump (41-9.5).
Alec Smith was fourth in the pole vault (9-6).
