Ashland loses to Walnut

Ashland kicked off its first football season with a 33-12 loss Friday night at Walnut.

The past few years athletes from Ashland and Hickory Flat played together as the Benton County Buc­caneers. This year each school has its own team.

The Blue Devils fell behind 20-0 at halftime.

But Cornelious Jones provided some spark to start the third when he returned the kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. A try-for-two was stopped short.
