Ashland girls, Holly High boys take victories
Holly Springs and Ashland turned up the heat again in rubber match-ups Friday night.
Holly High, playing at home this time around, looked to avenge rivalry losses to Ashland back on November 15.
The Lady Hawks held the advantage (21-16) in the first quarter, but came up short in a 64-59 final decision.
The Ashland girls were up 15-12 midway through the first. The Lady Hawks started to chip away to narrow the gap. Charity points by Kaila King had the Lady Hawks trailing by one (15-14). Later, Camee Faulkner’s bucket helped the Lady Hawks take the lead 16-15. But J’Niya Tallie’s freebies had knotted the game at 16. The Lady Hawks broke the tie and grabbed the first quarter lead.
