Anderson and Hannah lead Lady Cardinals in win over West Union

Potts Camp basketball teams wrapped up the pre-Thanksgiving portion of their schedule with a split versus West Union.

The Lady Cardinals got 22 points each from Ashley Anderson and Destinee Hannah in a 56-44 win over the Lady Eagles Friday, Nov. 18, at home.

Both came through in the clutch in the fourth quarter. Anderson scored 12 of her 22 in the final frame, while Hannah had eight in the fourth, including four of four from the free-throw line.

LaKayla Collins was also in double digits for Potts Camp. She scored 10.

The Lady Cards built a 24-12 halftime advantage, let West Union back to within four at the end of the third, but outscored the Lady Eagles 24-16 in the last quarter.

The Potts Camp boys were on the short end of a 72-64 score versus West Union.

The Cardinals trailed 35-31 at halftime and managed just five points in the third quarter. They tried to battle back in the fourth but could not overcome the deficit.

Leading scorers for Potts Camp were Tavaccius Burnside with 15 and Mitchell Saulsberry and Micah Powers with 10 each.

Potts Camp basketball teams were scheduled to host Marshall County rival Byhalia on Tuesday night of this week. They host another county foe, Marshall Academy, on Friday. Next Tuesday, Dec. 6, the intracounty clashes continue when they visit H.W. Byers.
