Dr. George Estes speaks to local congregations; great sermon with luncheon

City Personals Mary Clay Brooks

Sunday, the First Presbyterian Church members, as well as some Episcopalians and Methodists, had a real treat. Guest preacher, George Estes, also happens to be in a bluegrass band, South Country. The congregation had a covered dish luncheon after the wonderful service, which included a sermon on being in tune with God. Dr. Estes linked the sermon with the upcoming performance.

Dr. Estes, along with Frank McDermott, Jeff Tallant and Bob Waters, make up the talented group. They performed upbeat, fun bluegrass favorites in the fellowship hall following lunch. It was a toe tapping event and had everyone feeling uplifted!

Thank you to Dr. Estes and his fellow band members. That is one Sunday that will be hard to beat!

Cathryn and Drew Richey of Tupelo, along with their beautiful children, Graham and Maia, attended church services with Maia and Mark Miller Sunday.

Congratulations to the Marshall Academy Patriots football team. Deer Creek came Friday night for the Patriots to have them leave in a shutout, 43-0. Marshall advances in the post-season playoffs this week. They face Winona for the second round and will be traveling to play that game Friday night. Good luck!
