City Personals

What a glorious day it must have been 80 years ago when Ruth Gallagher Ferguson made her arrival! I have been blessed in knowing this beautiful soul my entire life, as her parents were grand friends of my Nonnie’s. By proxy, that made Ruth and her family grand friends of mine. There is nothing like having a lifetime of memories filled with amazing friendships that stretch decades and generations. I remember Ruth riding to town with her Mama to bring us homegrown vegetables. The excitement I would have seeing them pull down the alley was incredible! I knew we were fixing to have a great visit with Nonnie’s friends from “the country”, which really was not the country, it was just Waterford. Ruth is one of the most well traveled people I know. She is always going on this trip or that with her family and friends. Keeping those roads hot has kept her young, I believe!

For her birthday, she traveled to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Gettysburg and Hershey with her daughter, Kellie Samsel, who is another gem of a soul. They had a marvelous time touring the countryside! Last week, Kellie and her daughter, Jorja, treated Ruth to tea at the Peabody. They caught the Peabody ducks making their entrance and visited with the duck Master, as well. What a phenomenal way to celebrate 80 years! Happiest of birthdays, Ruth!!!

Vivi Kyle Shaw celebrated her 12th birthday in style Saturday evening, July 25. She was surrounded by her family and friends as the “Happy Birthday” song echoed around her. Party goers were treated to a welcomed pool party, cutting the heat of the evening. Happiest of birthdays to sweet Viv! She is the daughter of Lori and Kevin Shaw.
