Sip and See in Wheeler home honors Alea Gurley and baby Cole

Saturday, Alea Gurley and infant son Cole were honored with a Sip and See in the home of Kay Wheeler. Hostesses Caitlyn Brooks, Lexi Crawford and Arin Leigh Valentine prepared an array of beautiful food, served on McCarty pottery. The dining room table was adorned with gorgeous white deer and tulips. The guests enjoyed playing a game and getting to see baby Cole.

Marshall Academy held its junior-senior prom Saturday night. The students and their dates were treated to a pre-prom dinner at Kirkwood National Golf Club catered by Southern Eatery. Afterwards, they were shuttled to the Holly Springs Depot, which was transformed into a beautiful scene of “Under the Stars.” The rafters were draped with white tulle, which was covered with white twinkle lights. They had a fun photo booth available with all sorts of props. The students danced the night away to a popping DJ. Tables and chairs were set up along the outer wall for those needing to rest their feet. Kada Stephenson prepared iced sugar cookies to go along with the theme. Seniors Tyler Bolden and Laney Hart were named prom king and queen.

Welcome to Holly Springs for all of our tourists here for the 80th annual pilgrimage, hosted by the Holly Springs Garden Club. Queen this year is Mary Neely Jones, daughter of Nancy Jones and Ki Jones. She is a junior at Marshall Academy. Her escort is Mitchell Lafever, son of Suzanne and Johnny Lafever. Mitchell is a senior at Marshall Academy.

The weekend is packed with interesting activities for all ages. Be sure to take the Hill Crest Cemetery tour. It has to be one of the most unique experiences offered.

Enjoy your time spent in our beautiful town. The square offers a variety of shops which carry all types of things. Retro Rooster offers a vast selection of eclectic vintage furniture, savory dip mixes and everything in between. Angie’s Boutique carries an array of clothing for all ages, jewelry and shoes. Regal and Company is known for their fantastic floral arrangements, but they also have a grand selection of gift items including baby gifts and Peter’s Pottery. We are also fortunate enough to have a coffee shop in town, The Bottomless Cup, as well as a few antique shops, Trashy Women and Old Town Antiques and Collectibles. The Antique Shop in Mt. Pleasant is also a fun stop to make, as there is always new inventory to peruse.
