Dale and Terri Jackson enjoyed being in Nassau, Bahamas, last week as a surprise birthday gift to Terri. While enjoying New Providence Island in sunny 80-degree weather, they also went sailing, visited the straw market and enjoyed Bahamian delicacies.
A big shout out to those who went Facebook Live covering the Marshall Academy basketball games in Clinton last week (Bob Lomenick and Peyton Stephenson). It was the Overall tournament held at Mississippi College. Both varsity teams secured a spot to play.
The girls struggled in game one and took a loss. Since the tournament was one and done, they headed north Tuesday night. A big thank you to Alexis McGregor, a senior. It has been wonderful watching you progress through the years and seeing what a leader you became on the court – truly a tenacious player, small in stature but huge at heart!
The boys team pulled out a solid win first round. Wednesday, they faced Heritage (#1 from AAA). They went in at halftime ahead, but could not hold the lead second half. They fell to the AAA powerhouse, but left it all on the court.
Tyler Bolden, an all sports player, was one of the leading seniors on the boys team. He brought a fire to the court unlike any other and it has been so much fun watching him coming up through the ranks. He will be missed terribly on the court and off!
Eli Pearson, another senior, added a different dimension to the team and, although he was not at Marshall from the jump, was a joy to watch – a true team player and one who will go on to accomplish great things.
Javion Smith came to Marshall this year. His ability under the goal was nearly unbeatable. He would fight until he had no fight left. Although just one season was watched, it was enough to know he is some kind of special.
We’re sad for another season of basketball to be ending, but glad to see what the horizon holds!
