Charlie and Chandler Douglas Sunday guests of Leigh Douglas

Jake Jones was the weekend guest of his momma, Nancy, and sister, Mary Neely. Jake is currently matriculating at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.

Congratulations to the Marshall Academy Lady Patriots softball team. They swept the AA State Championship series beating Tri-County Academy in Flora, Saturday.

The Marshall Academy Patriots travel to Batesville Friday night to face North Delta on the gridiron. They put down the Rebels from Carroll Academy handily Friday night in conference play.

Charlie Douglas of Flowood, and son, Chandler, were the Sunday guests of his mother, Leigh Douglas. Chandler traveled to Auburn with the Pride of the South marching band Saturday when the Ole Miss Rebels faced off with Auburn.

Saturday night, the Kate Freeman Clark Art Gallery was adorned with the gorgeous works of famed Memphis artist Paul Edelstein. His pieces are bright and colorful, showing movement with a bit of whimsy.

Party-goers walked the path to the back of the gallery where tables were set up with beautiful tablescapes of adorned pumpkins and luminaries. Black and white striped runners added to the fall decor.

Taylor Grocery provided a wonderful, down-home Southern meal served buffet-style. Fried chicken strips and catfish were complimented with red potato salad, slaw, hushpuppies and green beans. The meal was topped off with warm peach cobbler.

Craft beer samplings were provided by Jackson Beer Company. There were many different selections available, some stout while others were quite mild.

The Yalobushwhackers, the house band for Thacker Mountain Radio, provided wonderful live music. They played their traditional music, as well as covers of songs everyone knew.
