Magnolia Sports Association, Mississippi’s all star showcase platform, dredged through over 800 football players’ films and resumes from the top of our state to the bottom, East to West and every nook and cranny in between. They narrowed the field down to the most elite of those players, forming teams to go head to head at East Central Community College in Decatur.

The teams were compromised of the best of the best from both private and public schools. Of the chosen, Brennan Smith, a sophomore at Marshall Academy, was selected for his athletic prowess on the football field and his leadership skills on and off of the field.

The Super Sophomore Elite game was held Sunday, December 28. Smith started at middle linebacker, was the long snapper and on both the punt return and kickoff coverage teams. Throughout the game, most positions were swapped in and out. Smith was a constant on the field, rocking bodies left and right. There was also a poor snap on Team Fire. Smith’s keen eye spotted the ball, scooped it up and ran into the end zone putting six more up for his team.

The final score was Team Ice 23 and Team Fire 12. What an amazing opportunity for a fabulous football player to be recognized beyond the confines of the MAIS. Congratulations to Smith for what is just the beginning for him on the gridiron.
