The Christmas season is coming to a close with Santa flying around the globe this week. It goes without saying it is a magical time for adults and children alike.

Marshall County puts on an Angel Tree program every year. If you are unfamiliar, it is a wonderful outreach. Citizens “adopt” a child or children who are in need and they give them a Christmas they would not have had otherwise.

This season, the First Methodist Church’s Youth Group adopted several children from the Angel Tree Program. They each enjoyed shopping and wrapping the gifts for their child. It takes a village sometimes and these young adults are absolutely the epitome of being community minded and giving back. It is, after all, better to give than to receive.
