Baby week for Holmes family

Christopher Bagwell and son, Christopher, of Owosso, Mich., were the guests of Midge and Mike Bagwell over the weekend. The duo enjoyed playing golf at Kirkwood and attending the Ole Miss - South Alabama game Saturday in Oxford. They took the long trek back up North Sunday.

Holly Springs was well represented in the Grove Saturday in Oxford. After all the negativity during the off-season for Ole Miss, it was nice to finally have kickoff. It goes to show how our community supports a team regardless of unfavorable fodder. The Rebels tromped South Alabama with a 47-27 final score.

Congratulations to Chandler Douglas, grandson of Leigh Douglas and son of Stefanie and Charlie Douglas. He made his debut with the Pride of the South marching band at Ole Miss this weekend. Here’s to many more years of watching him rock that sax playing “Dixie!”

Good luck to Brittany and J.C. Holmes. She is the daughter of Linda and Tom Stewart. This is baby week for her!

An area rivalry was hashed out Friday night on Patriot field between Marshall Academy and Faulkner. The Patriots started off rather sluggishly, but picked up momentum and wound up wearing Falkner out. Ryan Brock, Everette Jones and quarterback Eli Pearson had a lot of big plays throughout the game. This week, the Patriots travel to Grenada to play Kirk Academy.
