Grady Brooks is convalescing at Kay Wheeler’s home after a minor surgery last week.
Congratulations to Abandoned to Adored rescue. They raised an incredible amount of money Monday when Kris with Jordan’s Way came out for the day. Kris promotes local animal rescues. There were fun games throughout the Facebook live event for participants that continually moved the donation needle higher and higher. Jordan’s Way Facebook page has up all of the excitement from the day and this particular fundraiser is still open through the end of the week. As always, any amount helps and they take donations everyday.
Nobody realizes how important Abandoned to Adored is for our entire community until you ride and see all of the poor dumped animals we have roaming not only the city streets, but most prevalent in the county itself. Abandoned to Adored is always in need of fosters, as well as adoptive parents. Adopt don’t shop.
Speaking of fosters, Lori Whaley Shaw was presented with a litter of baby beagles a while ago. Their mother had suffered life ending injuries from an accident. Lori, Kevin and their three girls, Addie, Vivi Kyle and Kate Russell, took in the precious puppies and nursed them right on up to amazing health. All of the puppies but one were transported to Connecticut to live out their lives in loving homes. As gut wrenching as it was for the Shaws to let the puppies go, they knew they would be greeted by families who otherwise would not have an opportunity to have a pet. Sometimes we take for granted having loving pets to come home to after school or work. Up north, as hard as it is to imagine, their dog population is zilch. They have such strict guidelines for people to own animals that many families do not even try. I could not imagine not having my sweet pup. The selfless gift Lori and her bunch gave to several families is one that will never be forgotten.
Mother’s Day was made extra special for the Dodson/Gresham families with the baptism of sweet Liza Dodson. She was presented to the Presbyterian minister at the baptismal font in the First Presbyterian Church Sunday. Family and friends attended this special occasion as Liza was dedicated to God.
