The brothers of Sigma Nu fraternity at Ole Miss had their spring formal this weekend in Nashville. Jack Whaley Smith, date Molly Burch, and a handful of their friends dined next to Garth Brooks Saturday night. They celebrated Jack Whaley’s birthday late and, knowing that, Garth Brooks sent a round of Shirley Temples for all to enjoy.
Sunday afternoon, Jordan and Josh Mask’s home was filled with revelers there to celebrate Kensley’s first birthday. The theme was “My First Rodeo” and the home was decked out to match. A balloon arch defined the space between the kitchen and the den, a beautiful banner hung honoring Kensley and props for party attendees were everywhere. She was surrounded by family and friends who have become family to help her celebrate. Here’s to many more fantastic birthdays with this beautiful little girl.
Hedgefarm in Red Banks provided a gorgeous backdrop for Marshall Academy’s prom Saturday. With the threat of more tornadoes looming, the time of prom was bumped from the normal 6 p.m. to 2 p.m. causing a frenzy with hair stylists and makeup artists in our area. The senior and junior classes, as well as their dates, showed up dressed to kill and ready to dance the afternoon away. Needless to say, Mother Nature plotted her own plans as a tornado warning was issued at the tail end of prom. Always quick to think on his feet, Headmaster Jason Taylor and sponsors hurriedly loaded the crowd of students on buses to get everyone to safety. Tammy and Jamie Rappa, residents of Red Banks and parents of Gracie, a junior prom attendee, graciously opened their tornado shelter for everyone. Although crowded, every last one of them fit underground, hunkering down, praying for the best but expecting the worst. When the warning lifted, the students were taken back to Marshall Academy only to be sequestered in the hallway of the school as another warning was issued. A big thank you to the resilience of the administration and staff who were present during what could have been catastrophic. They kept the students calm while leading with level heads. What a prom for the books.
