Vivi Shaw celebrates with Hawaiian party

Monday, July 10, Nattie celebrated her second birthday in style surrounded by her family, friends and fellow furry critters. Here’s to Nattie and many more years of being the favorite child of Mary Neely Jones and Kane Stricker.

Vivi Kyle Shaw hula’d her 9th birthday in with style Saturday with a hula girl/Hawaiian themed party. Partygoers were greeted with leis and enjoyed an afternoon of swimming and fun festivities. Happy, happy birthday to precious Viv.

What a great day it was Monday to hear there was a bonafide lawn crew within the hallowed fences of our dear cemetery, Hill Crest. I rode through there last week and must say, I was deeply saddened to see the state of the grounds. Grass higher than some of the headstones, which is a feat as you know some are sky bound. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to whomever got the crew to our cemetery. It is, however, an absolute shame it has to nearly fall to ruin before any action is taken. If I am not mistaken, we went through this very thing last year. Family members of the dearly departed and other gracious volunteers took to the cemetery with weed eaters, lob shears and any other implement that would help eradicate the overgrown mess that had become Hillcrest. Shortly thereafter, a crew came. This year with all of the rain and extreme heat, it has been harder for people to go down there and tend to their family plots. Being a city owned cemetery, one would think they could do better. Hopefully once the great crew finishes up over there, it will be maintained.

The family of Sandra Taylor honored her on her 88th birthday with a party in Collierville, Tenn. Her children are Bobby, Randy and Terry Taylor, Diane King, Rhonda Wilburn and Patricia Denman. She has 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way.
