Congratulations to ‘high school sweethearts’ on engagement

Watching a “child” grow up you consider one of yours is always a joy, especially when they start our in this world teeny tiny and super early. Everyone enveloped this child in prayer when she was born and I do not believe they ever stopped.

This “little girl” was scrappy as all get out on the basketball court and soccer field then cleaned up, bow and all, to cheer. As proficient as she was in the sports endeavors, she was equally as determined in the classroom.

When she took off to the University of Southern Mississippi, we all knew she was destined for great things. She hit Hattiesburg by storm and has blazed a path only she could accomplish.

Through all of this, she has had a constant in her life. He appeared on the scene way back during high school. Every event that was had, she was on his arm. Long distance seemed to make their bond stronger once they went to college, attending two different universities.

Over the weekend, this young man dropped to one knee, as family and friends watched, and asked this beautiful girl to join him in this endeavor we call life. Was it a surprise when I saw it all over social media? Not at all, as these two are truly meant to be together. What a fabulous adventure upon which they are fixing to embark.

Here is to all the love and luck this life holds for the both of you. Erin Burleson and Tommy Clifton, high school sweethearts to lifetime partners.

Erin is the daughter of Barry and Pam Burleson of Holly Springs.
