Kids bring smiles while I’m working

One of the pluses of working where you have a window overlooking the outside is the amazing things you get to see on a daily basis. Some things are best left unsaid, sadly they cannot be unseen, but there are times that you are fortunate enough to see things that make you smile from ear to ear.

Sweet Ollie Bennett, son of Maddie and Aaron, is his Granddaddy’s (Greg Gresham) helper some days during the week. I feel I have watched him grow up through this window. He has gone from a little toe head held by his Granddaddy on their daily run to the post office to a “big boy” walking side by side with his Granddaddy. If you ever have a bad day, Ollie will change that. He absolutely is the sweetest little soul around our brick sidewalks.

Another bright blue eyed, brilliant little fella popped into the office Monday – Paxton Clark, son of Wynne Clark. They are in town this week for spring break staying with his Glam, Grace Bonds. Talk about personality – Paxton is loaded with it not to mention how unbelievably smart he is to boot. He is another one who can be seen through the front office window going from a small child to a fine looking young fella. He was so excited explaining all of the fun things he has planned for this week and his birthday week (he celebrates six whole years on this earth next Friday, March 25). If you are lucky enough to love your work (even more so your work family) and are able to watch second and third generation “babies” coming up from visiting their Grandparents at work, you are one blessed person. I remember spending time here when I was in lower elementary. I would visit Nonnie at the Marshall County Museum (her office was inside the museum on the right, as she ran the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce). We would make our “rounds” seeing her friends where they worked – Jean Lafever at the M&F Bank drive through across from the First Baptist Church, May May at the Marshall County Library and Nyla Moore back behind Tyson’s.

Our visits with her other friends happened after work but were just as special. My hope is all of our “visitors” remember what it was like to tour around and make the hearts of their Grandparents’ friends smile from the inside out. You just cannot find that type of pure joy anywhere else.
