Grady Brooks, Hank Wheeler trek out West

Grady Brooks recently returned from a three-week trek out West with his Granddad, Hank Wheeler.

Their trip began in Las Vegas. They spent a few days touring Death Valley, Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon. Death Valley’s true temperature was 124 degrees when they were there. They also toured the Bad Lands.

The duo traveled into Utah. There were several parks they wanted to explore. They stayed in a lodge at Zion National Park located near Springdale.

Each day included different hiking trails and on the way down from one, they got to see mountain goats in their natural habitat.

After two days of trekking through Bryce Canyon National Park, they headed to Capital Reef National Park near Torrey, Utah. This park had a resort on site. There were even stagecoach type camping options.

Moab, Utah, was the next stop. They enjoyed hiking and touring the Arches and Canyon Lands.

The last stop on their adventure was Monument Valley, which is on a Navajo Reservation. By this time, the wildfires out West had fairly good momentum and left a haze of smoke around the park. It did not hamper the fun time Hank and Grady had, though!
