Congratulations local graduates

Congratulations to all of the Marshall County college graduates! What a wonderful thing it was to see all of the pictures and platitudes on social media over the weekend. Jordan Holt, Delta State University, Samuel Morris, Mississippi State University and Hailey McMinn, University of Mississippi, to name just a few. When you are from a small town like ours, you watch generations of children come up through the ranks from babies to high school graduates to college graduates. It is an honor to be part of seeing the metamorphosis, and I cannot wait to see the heights our young people reach.

Chandler Douglas, grandson of Leigh Douglas, graduated Sunday from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Mississippi. Chandler was an honors recipient and participated in the honors ceremony Friday. Chandler, Caroline Grace and Charlie Douglas all came to Holly Springs Saturday to visit with Leigh. Big congratulations to Chandler, who has worked so hard to achieve perfection during his years at Ole Miss.

As with graduation comes the end of freshmen year for a lot of our young “adults.” Mounds of laundry and every single thing they have accumulated in two semesters seems to be accompanying most of them home. The first year flew by for this momma of a freshman and I would imagine most feel the same. Hopefully the fall will lean a little more towards normal for them.

A huge congratulations to Erin Lomenick - she is the 2021 Ole Miss Organic Chemistry Student of the Year. She just finished her sophomore year at Ole Miss and obviously had her head down in the books. Great things happening!
