SAE events held in Oxford

A beautiful baby shower was held in Cleveland Saturday for Caitlyn Bray. The hostesses, Michelle Bailey, Jamie Lyn Hairston, Beth Hardman, Shea House and Wanda Hunt truly outdid themselves. The home was decorated to perfection as it included a clothesline with adorable baby girl outfits and a precious swimsuit hung from one corner of the mantle to the other, a swag of soft pink roses and a stuffed unicorn were atop the ledge, a bowl of books and teethers was the centerpiece in the den and a dome encased a precious pair of baby booties. The ladies prepared a variety of brunch items which included donuts made into babies with pacifiers and little eyes, personalized sugar cookies with Delilah’s name and cute little pink ducks floated in the punch bowl. Mary Clay Brooks and Melanie Bray enjoyed seeing all the love around the room for our sweet Delilah Jane. Kay Wheeler and Sara Kalkbrenner, both greatgrandmothers, were all smiles, as well as Laura Wheeler, Delilah’s Aunt.

Friday night, Mary Clay Brooks and Kay Wheeler attended a Sigma Alpha Epsilon event at Johnny Morgan’s in Oxford. A large number of alumni from all over the country spoke including former Governor Haley Barbour, Charles Boyd, Thad Mueller and Charlie Williams. It was such a fun time meeting Grady Brooks’ fraternity brothers and their families. Guests were served barbecued chicken, slaw and baked beans. The Ole Miss/LSU baseball game was also played.

Saturday night, there was a reception to honor the Mississippi Gamma chapter of SAE at Isom House in Oxford. This group of young men worked fastidiously all year long to bring their chapter back to the Ole Miss campus. Saturday night, they were all initiated and given back their charter. It was incredible to listen to the alumni speak highly of the 41 gentlemen in the chapter and the work they have put in this year. A big congratulations to all of them and a heartfelt thank you to each of the men who had a hand in helping these young men accomplish this feat.
