Saturday night, Tom and Linda Stewart, owners of Soutern Eatery, hosted their annual Christmas in July party for their employees and friends of the restaurant. They came up with this idea years ago, as Christmas is so busy with trying to coordinate schedules and such. Not only is everyone treated to an incredible meal, they also have fun games and enjoy each other’s company.
Happiest of birthdays to Thomas Stewart! He celebrated Sunday, July 26. Here’s to many more to a fine young man.
What a win for Holly Springs and Marshall County with Governor Tate Reeves’ appointment of Kent E. Smith to circuit judge of the Third Circuit Judicial District. His appointment was announced last week and he was sworn in Thursday in a COVID-19 compliant ceremony in Courtroom B on the square.
I know there are many who have covered this wonderful event, news media wise. I just wanted to let those who may not peruse any others that as a town, we are proud of Judge Smith and this fine accomplishment. Not only is he deserving, he is also the most hard-working, for-the-people man I have ever known. We are very fortunate to have someone who sees all sides on the bench, as are the other six counties included in the district. Congratulations once again to Judge Kent E. Smith.
