Happy Birthday, Dunn Boatwright

Happy Birthday wishes to Dunn Boatwright, who spent time with family and friends. His sister, Wynne Clark, and nephew, Paxton, spent the weekend celebrating with him. Here’s to many, many more happy and wonderful years.

Midge Bagwell and Maia Miller attended “Live at the Gardens” summer concert series Saturday night. Toby Keith was the performer.

Get well wishes to Eugene Smith, who has been feeling puny lately.

Marshall Academy’s peewee and junior varsity football teams had their first outings Thursday night at home. Brennan Smith quarterbacked for the peewee team and did a tremendous job, as did the rest of the players. Devin Snow jived and juked, running into the end zone on more than one occasion. This team showed true grit and never once gave up!

The junior varsity team kept the game interesting for all four quarters. They were outsized by a lot, but the Patriots did not let that stop them from making good plays and being scrappy on the field. The game-winning touchdown came from Clarksdale Lee with a little over a minute left in the fourth quarter. They are going to be a great team to follow and watch throughout the season.
