John and Judy Forester celebrate 35th anniversary

Caitlyn and Trace Bray of Cleveland were the weekend guests of Kay and Laura Wheeler.

A large group of friends spent last week in Destin, Fla. Penny, Erin and Eli Lomenick, Linda and Sonni McKinney, Nancy and Mary Neely Jones, Peyton Stevenson, Sarah Grace Jackson, Ginny and Blake Martin, Jennifer and Hailey McMinn, Hayden Wilkerson, Amy Lindsey and sons, Brody and Brooks, and Tammy McGreger all spent quality time on the beach, enjoying the surf and sand, as well as amazing seafood.

Grady Brooks returned Saturday from Ole Miss for the Boys’ State leadership program. It is an intensive week-long experience in how the government works, as well as implementing what you learn towards the end of the week. The boys are grouped into political parties and cities as soon as they arrive. They held elections for everything a municipality has, as well as statewide elections. Grady was elected as a senator for his party, which sadly lost the majority. The last three days of the week, the boys ran the session. The American Legion holds Boys’ State programs all over the country. It is an amazing learning experience for those involved. Throughout the week, they had esteemed leaders from all over the state come and speak to them. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, Representative Jay Hughes, Miss University Blair Wortsmith, Senator Roger Wicker, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr., Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis and esteemed senior writer for ESPN, Wright Thompson, were among some of the speakers. They also had a mock trial, a debate and a fish fry catered by Taylor Grocery.

John and Judy Forester just returned from celebrating their 35th anniversary. They spent it at Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. They had a great time seeing the sights! They took tours in, under and around the falls which included ziplining across them, and had a great anniversary dinner at Milstones.

They enjoyed the nightly fireworks on the falls. It so happened that they met up with friends of John’s from college, Mark and Valarie Barton from Brandon, who were also celebrating their anniversary there.
