Rowan Thompson of Dallas, Texas, was the week-long guest of his sister, Kay Wheeler, and niece, Laura, last week. He was in town to attend the Ole Miss-Auburn game. He also visited with childhood friends and other family members while here. He even went to a Marshall Academy basketball game to support his great-nephew, Grady Brooks, who plays for the Patriots.

Katy Barbour of Nashville, Tenn., has been the guest of her aunt, Margaret Ann Barruel. She was here to celebrate Margaret Ann’s birthday and to visit with other family and friends.

By the time this edition comes out, the presidential election will be over. Next Tuesday, November 15, our local stores will be having their annual holiday open houses. Be sure to get a head start on your Christmas shopping! The Antique Shop in Mt. Pleasant will be having its open house Thursday, November 17, from 5 - 9 p.m., which gives local shoppers the opportunity to visit the town square one night and the antique shop another! Support your local businesses, y’all; they are what makes our town great!
