Making memories with family

Delilah Jane Bray of Olive Branch had a “spennanite” party Friday with her Baboo (Kay Wheeler), Cricket (Mary Clay Brooks) and Lizard (Laura Wheeler). She got to meet a new friend, visit with old ones and even had a visit from the First Night Fairy!

When you grow up in a small town, your circle seems vast. There were two brothers who were always around my friend group. If you saw one, you saw the other. Their parents bought Dr. and Mrs. Wright’s house years ago. As an adult, I always wondered what happened to them, as everyone loses touch when we become older. Low and behold, their sister (Juanette) works with me. She is considerably younger than I, so she was not part of the dynamic duo that was Michael and Meigualan Cummings.

If you knew them growing up, you were one lucky person! They were the nicest guys from the best family! Their daddy, Mr. Charles, was always around helping children, most especially at the ball park. You just could not have known a better family. Those times were easy and fun – no electronics and nobody went in until usually past the time the street lights were shining. Anywhere you saw dust kicking up, you would find a hoard of us.

A big thank you to Juanette for making me smile with phenomenal memories of my childhood here! Blessed is not the word to describe how truly fortunate we all are to be lucky enough to call Holly Springs our hometown!
