Soccer awards ceremony

Thank you, Veterans, who will always be my heroes. We don’t honor you enough. I appreciate the discounts given by many businesses and the “free meals” many restaurants offer on Veterans’ Day. Many times, when my late husband would wear his Veteran’s hat when we went out to eat, someone would quietly pay for our meal. We, too, paid for other Veterans’ meals on occasion. Without our Veterans fighting for our freedoms and privileges we would live in a much different world. I met many special veterans during the time Doug spent in the Veterans’ Home in Oxford. Their stories were all special.

For the first thirty days of October there was little to no rain. November seems determined to make-up for it. We have not been able to play our last soccer game or our final adult softball games. We did, however, have an awesome Soccer Awards Ceremony for 77 players and their guests. It was planned to take place after the games were complete, but the rain changed that. The room was decorated in black and gold. Kids and guests enjoyed an awesome meal furnished by the parents with donated drinks. Each player received a beautiful medallion celebrating our first season.

I attended a baby shower this week. This couple (and the rest of the relatives) are ecstatic about the addition of this little one. Watching the excitement and gratitude as mom opened each gift was so much fun. It is amazing to see all the things that are considered necessary for a baby these days and all the wonderful things that have been invented to make mom’s life so much easier.

Another doctor’s appointment was completed this week. I left with a good report and then completed the required bloodwork. I’ve reviewed the numbers on the online portal. They are okay, but I’m sure the call is coming to add a medicine or stop eating yet another food. Still waiting on the call about the liver biopsy although I have read that report also.

Speaking of food, have you discovered the Premium Saltine Minis? I’ve always been a cracker’s fan but these are so tasty. If you enjoy crackers, you will probably enjoy these.

On Saturday I decided to take my little dog to his vet. He had been shaking his head a lot and insisting I rub his ears long periods of time. I finally got the message, his ears were bothering him again. I love it when they use the treatment that only requires one dose, and I don’t have to continue to put drops in his ears. He also got an allergy shot. Usually by this time of year, he doesn’t need it as he is allergic to certain grasses which should have already been killed by a frost except there has been no frost. He seems to feel better.

The part he won’t like is his diet must change as he has gained entirely too much weight. According to his vet, his portions must be cut in half. He is not going to like that at all.
