Smoke Signals and other news
I hope all of you had a Blessed Easter. Let us never forget He is Risen. If you have not seen the cross in front of the Flame of Byhalia Church, take time to drive by while the flowers are still fresh. This is something that is done every year and it is lovely.
For me, it was a week filled with getting to see my children, some of my grandchildren, and some of the great grandchildren. Anytime that happens it is a good week for me. Ellen and family stayed with me. I barely saw her as she worked at Byhalia Nutrition every day. Stop by and see the changes. We did all go out to eat Monday night. Some of us went out again on Thursday night to Seafood Junction Too. Oliva and Landon don’t consider their trip to Mississippi complete if they don’t get to go there. Olivia, age eleven, has always eaten off the buffet. At first, it was free due to her age. Then we moved to the child’s price and now she has moved on to the adult menu. She enjoys all types of food and is definitely not a picky eater, so I don’t mind. Landon, age 15, has always gotten a burger or a double burger and fries. He is much pickier about what he eats. We gave him the option of trying the buffet. He gave it a try and that will be his choice in the future. For the first time in many years, we did not have a traditional Easter Family gathering.
Of course, the grand dog, Bentlee, came with the family. Except for having lost about fifteen pounds during his recent adventure of eating a corncob resulting in surgery, he was the same sweet dog. He knows where he is as soon as they arrive and makes himself right at home.
Landon and Olivia were great about helping me accomplish a few things I needed done. They never complained although I am sure they had other things to do they would have enjoyed more. Olivia raided the “ball shed” and found lots of softballs to use when she practices at home. Landon helped put things that will be donated in the proper containers. I will soon be able to take them to the organization that can use them. I found a “home” for the many tennis rackets accumulated over the years and also the golf clubs. I can’t foresee my ever being able to play tennis again and no one in this house has ever played golf.
The dog we have tried to capture to return to his family hasn’t been around in a couple of weeks. We returned the borrowed catch cage. I am disappointed that we were not able to reunite him with his family.
Before the Burn Ban, we were able to have two large bonfires from all the “stuff” in the sheds we have cleaned out that just needed to go for various reasons. We have another pile ready to burn when the ban is lifted. I have also filled the garbage can to overflowing each week with things that cannot be burned. Until we get to the last shed, the garage, and the attic, that should slow down a bit.
