Smoke Signals and other news
Another beautiful Spring week. I did fill the bird feeder again since the temperature was so low for a couple of days. The little feathered friends have almost emptied it again. More are finding it every day. I know it’s time for the hummingbirds also, so I have to begin preparations for them this week.
Sue Kircher is on a grand adventure with her granddaughter, Laney. For Spring Break. Laney wanted to go on a field trip with a group from her school to New York City. Of course, Sue went with her. They are having a grand time sightseeing, going to Broadway shows, and of course checking out fantastic places to eat. Being a Grandma who can do these things with a grandchild is such a blessing, One of my grandsons is going to Scotland for a friend’s wedding and actually staying in a castle. I’m trying to convince him he needs to take me with him. He’s 23 so I’m sure that won’t happen but can’t hurt to ask.
More heart tests this week. Nothing too invasive so far. Only a few minor things have shown up so far, but the troubling symptoms are still with me and slowing me down way too much. I will insist they keep looking until they find the answers.
It seems each time I open my Facebook group from Carrier, we have lost another friend. Sunday morning brought news of another heartbreaking loss. I realize many of us are getting much older and all of us must pass away, but it still hurts.
The Byhalia Library has many events each week. There is something for everyone. The Senior Social Hour is the first and third Tuesday at 1 p.m. There is always an interesting speaker sharing their story. There is an adult book club. There are numerous activities for the kids. Besides all that, you can check out books.
My 15-year-old grandson got his permit this week. He was not one of those kids who insisted on doing so the day he was old enough. In fact, he had little to no interest, but mom and dad are ready for him to drive himself to some of his sports practices and such. Not so sure they will be so glad when they see the insurance bill.
Kids throughout the county are taking to the fields to practice T-ball, baseball, and softball. Games should start for the County League around April 13. Support these kids with your attendance.
A 30 year old friend of mine has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cervical cancer, She is fighting hard to survive for her two young daughters. Include her in your prayers. Her name is Rebecca. There is a Go- FundMe account and an account at Bank of Holly Springs if you wish to support her financially. You can contact me for information.
