Smoke Signals and other news
The trees and daffodils are blooming. The grass is trying to convince me to cut it already. I did have someone pick up all the limbs and debris from the recent ice storm and I let him weed eat near the house, but I drew the line at cutting the grass just yet, but it can’t be far off. The mower is ready and the gas is bought but let’s wait a bit longer please. One of my favorite spring events is to watch the new born calves running, playing, and discovering their new found freedom to move about.
A week or so ago, I had a dog I didn’t recognize from the neighborhood come on my porch at night to eat some of the cat food I leave out for the feral cats. He was a rather handsome fellow. I posted a picture from the ring camera on Facebook and a family I know that doesn’t live nearby were sure it is their boy that has been missing for about a year. He is very skittish so I can’t open the front door to grab him. He came back one other time that I saw. They have searched our land at length and waited in the driveway for hours at night. I have sent his picture to all the neighbors I know. We now have a catch cage with food and some of their clothing set up but he hasn’t come back. I know he is scared and has no idea anyone is searching for him. I truly hope we can reunite them.
I accepted a new challenge recently. It seems our county needs poll workers for upcoming elections. I attended training this week. It is a massive coordinated effort to ensure our election process runs smoothly and correctly. I’m not so sure how I feel about being more than twelve hours at the polls, but it is important and I will do my best.
Our Marshall County ball program board of directors met this week to coordinate the kickoff of the Spring/Summer season. Each season has its own challenges, and this one will be no different. We will make every effort to ensure those that are enrolled have an outstanding season. Support the kids of Marshall County.
I was invited to speak at the Senior Social Hour for the Byhalia Library this week. I am not much on public speaking though I have had to do it some over the years. The amount of time allotted to speak is about forty-five minutes. I thought I had maybe fifteen to twenty minutes of talking points, but I made it close to an hour before I stopped. I don’t think my story is that exciting but no one left and they did ask question. There are some things you just don’t tell though.
I am not enjoying my current bout of health issues in any form. More doctor visits, tests run, and tests were scheduled this week. These are interfering with my planned trip to Georgia. These were not on my agenda at all but are unfortunately necessary.
