Spending time with Olivia

My heart breaks for the families of the children and adults lost in the tragic flood at Camp Mystic in Texas, but also for the survivors. I remember the days I spent at 4-H and UMYF camps. Many friends went off to camps every summer. It never crossed our minds that we might not return from these camps safely. My children, too, went off to church camps, cheerleader camps, and band camps. I served as a counselor and camp nurse more than once. There were minor injuries, bug bites, homesickness, and sunburns but nothing so tragic as this. Continue to pray for these families as only God can heal their hearts.

When our cruise ended, we returned to Springfield, Ga., where Ellen and family live. I stayed until the following Wednesday to be rested enough for the long drive home-10-½ hours for me. After figuring out the logistics, tenyear-old Olivia was able to come back with me. Unintentionally, we drove back through Atlanta, which I always try to avoid. It wasn't horrible but I remembered why I avoid it. I always wonder at what point I will not be able to make the drive to see them. Ellen, Matt, Landon and the dog were able to come a few days later. Matt and Landon had to return on Friday as football and wrestling are in their summer schedules. Olivia and Ellen are still here but will return home later this week. This is the longest I have had Olivia with me since they moved a few years ago. It's going to be difficult to let her go again and we will both cry for sure. She is such a good helper for me when she is here. She has even gotten to play softball with a Byhalia team while she has been here. She is excited to have been chosen for what is known as a transition team at home. It is the level between rec ball and travel ball.

This long-term rotator cuff injury has flared up again. The original injury was more than twelve years ago caused when I tripped over my dog. Several cortisone shots and physical therapy later it was fine until a few months ago and it was back to shots and PT-Another shot last week and probably more PT. The doctor prescribed two medications that provide much relief but after reading the side effects and warnings I probably can't take them because of my liver issues.

We were all set for Ellen, Olivia, and I to attend the awesome fireworks event hosted by Byhalia Baptist Church on Friday night. I began to feel sick just before time to go and decided it was best for me to stay home; however, Ellen and Olivia were able to attend and had a great time. Olivia came home with several “treasures.” I am still weak from whatever illness hit me. I was disappointed not to be able to share the event with them.

My PC is finally back from its repairs–the motherboard had gone out. Thankfully, it was still under warranty, was repaired at no cost, and best of all, I did not lose any files.

Several posts have been made on Facebook recently about misdelivered FedEx packages. I’ve had a couple of issues where packages were left, but normally I at least get my packages. On Saturday, I received a notice that three packages had been delivered but there were no packages and the picture showing delivery certainly was not at my house. I posted on Facebook with no results. Then after ten that night someone let me know there was a post in a Facebook group with someone saying they had my packages. The lady was kind enough to secure my packages and delivered them to me Sunday afternoon. They were delivered by FedEx more than four miles from me on a totally different road. I am thankful for honest people. I am still searching for packages misdelivered by the USPS some weeks ago.
