Smoke Signals and other news
And now for the rest of the story about the cat, apparently the cat I saw on the camera was not her at all but another cat that sometimes comes to my porch to eat. I had opened the access for under house again on Sunday afternoon. I could hear her meowing loudly and moving around insisting she really wanted to get out but could not find her way, which seemed really strange. It’s not like I can crawl under there anymore. I asked my contractor who recently replaced my floors if he could bring one of the young guys who worked for him out to do that. He showed up with Joey who crawled under the house. We could hear her loudly protesting her situation but could not find her. At times it sounded like she was on the roof but no cat there either. My contractor declared she had to be inside the house or in the attic. All doors to each room were opened so there was no reason for her to be trapped. But how does a cat get into the attic? We pulled down the attic stairs and I began calling her. She cautiously peeked over the edge of the opening. This is the cat that only recently let me start touching her so I knew no one else would be able to get near her. Yes, I climbed those attic stairs that I haven’t attempted in years and eventually convinced her to let me pick her up and pass her back down the stairs. I only got scratched a little. After six days in the attic, she was happy to be out and went to find her food bowl. I finally figured out how she managed to get in the attic. I may share that story later, but for now I think she may have used up one of her nine lives, and curiosity almost killed the cat.
Potts Camp and Byhalia have closed out registration for ball. Holly Springs registration is scheduled to continue until a bit later in March. I know for sure Byhalia has had a record number of kids register and I believe Potts Camp, did too. The fields will be full until mid-June. Games will start in midApril. I love that kids will be out in the sunshine learning the game, enjoying the sunshine and making friends that will last a lifetime.
I’m not one to complain much, but, when I arrived home Friday, my delivery of my dog’s food was lying about 100 feet from my house by the driveway. Really. I don’t pay for FedEx delivery to be put down there. My review was not exactly good. The same night and apparently the same driver left my DIL package at the end of my neighbor’s driveway, stating it was left under the carport. They don’t have one.
As you clean up your yard and do repairs around your house, consider helping that elderly or disabled neighbor do the same at their house. Most won’t ask for your help but would be so very grateful for any small act of kindness.
