Smoke Signals
I, as I am sure many others, am so thankful for the break in the extreme heat. I pray for those who must work outside or do not have air conditioning when the temperature and humidity reach such dangerous levels.
I was able to cut my grass in relative comfort on Wednesday. I spent a relaxing day visiting with my schoolteacher daughter before she starts back to school next week. We worked on a jigsaw puzzle, played with the tiny new kitten who remains nameless. None of the names I suggested were chosen, but he doesn’t care as long as his needs are met including food, snuggles, naps, and play time. My grandson, Allan, dropped by for a few minutes at lunch and after work as his job is nearby. It was great to see him and hear some of his work adventures as an Engineer.
One of her three rescue dogs (Australian Shepard) is one of the smartest dogs I have known in a long time. She has the “talking buttons” to tell you what she wants, including Momma, Play, Water, Outside, and a few others. One day when I was there and it was raining, she told us “Water Outside.” She loves to chase balls and such. Recently, her favorite basketball accidentally got destroyed. She prefers a “real” broken in basketball. My neighbor, Sue Brents, donated one I’m sure our children played with years ago. Zoey herded that ball until she was exhausted and would on occasion bring it to me to be tossed back out in the yard.
One of my great-grandsons is in need of your prayers. He went in for some dental work for which he would need to be sedated. In the process of prepping for it, it was discovered that he has a hole in his heart along with a stuck valve. He is not quite four. Doctors will attempt to repair it this week. If the repair cannot be done through the groin, he will have immediate open-heart surgery. Ellen is coming into town to be here for his surgery.
This week a phone belonging to me was stolen-not my main phone but one used by a family member. Thieves are very low on my list of people I respect. I know who took it. The phone can be replaced but all the contacts and other information contained on that phone were gone. The “find my phone” feature showed an approximate location at a vacant lot so it was probably tossed. Somehow word must have gotten to the person who took it that I was filing charges and suddenly the phone was returned, broken, but at least information can be retrieved. A new phone has been ordered.
I would love to report your news. Call or text me at 901-246-8843, message me on Facebook at Clair Wagg, or email me at jchwagg@gmail.com.
