May the best candidate win

Many things are happening in Marshall County this month. One of the biggest is the Democratic Primary Election and the second is school starting back.

The Democratic and Republican Primary election was held Tuesday, Aug. 8. Many candidates have published announcements in The South Reporter over the last several months. Some candidates have presented their platforms at different venues to the people in the county. Tuesday, Aug. 8, we shall see the outcome.

I remember the first time I voted. It was a very important step in my life. I hope everyone got a chance to go and vote Tuesday.

Usually on Tuesday morning voting precincts are not as crowded as in the evening. Many more people come to vote after they get off work. I always go after work, and usually, there is a line. It is not so bad because it is time I can catch up with some of my neighbors that I don’t get to see much.

I remember I waited an hour and a half to vote in the 1992 United States Presidential Election. On the ballot was Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Ross Perot. That was one of the largest elections I have voted in. Bill Clinton won.

Many candidates have worked so hard putting out signs and speaking at different venues to let people in Marshall County know what their platforms are and ask for their vote.

In the election Tuesday, you could either vote Democrat or Republican.

Some of the tight races may be:

Governor: Democrat Brandon Presley and Republican candidates: David Grady Hardigree, Tate Reeves, and John Witcher.

The Republican Lieutenant Governor: Delbert Hosemann, Tiffany Longino, and Chris McDaniel.
