Letters to the Editor
This happened to me Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6. I had carried my wife to WalMart this Sunday afternoon to get two or three articles (vitamins) in the drug department. As I waited in the truck, she left her cell phone at home, not knowing until we got to WalMart, so I could not call her.
I had parked by the wall near the door so I could see her come out. I am a type 2 diabetic (for 30 years), and my sugar level dropped real low and I knew I was in trouble. I had to move my truck to a regular parking place – and one opened up right across from the door. I was able to get so my wife would see it. I went in the door to the checkers’ side and come to a candy rack, got a candy bar, tore off the wrapper and started to eat by the time I got to the checker. I explained I wasn’t stealing and what my problem was. She said get what you need and she checked on me several times – a real nice lady. Then I needed something to drink; I got a drink with a lot of sugar and started drinking. After my sugar got settled down, I went to the checker and gave her a $5 bill and said this should cover my bill and she could keep the change. A couple was getting ready to check out and the checker ask them if it was okay to take my money in front of them. She told them my situation. The lady took the bill and told the checker to give me back my money. She said my bill was on them.
I thanked them and asked if she knew about a diabetic. She said yes, her father was one. I was surprised to see such good People here in our county and thanked them several times. I did not know any of them. They are fine people and make this a better place to live.
