Leaders must put community in better situation

To the Editor:

Once again, we as a community, by the grace of God, were fortunate that we did not incur some of the damages and outages in the recent winter storm that a lot of our neighbors did.

It is unfortunate that we lost a very valuable member of our community when a member of the HSUD lost his life in the line of duty. Our prayers are with the family of our friend.

This day and time is not to be taken for granted, but we as a community must look to our political leaders to put our community in a better situation to where we are not in the dark when the wind blows. I, for one, am tired as a county resident to be out of power and my neighbors less than a hundred feet away are still with power. We know what the problem is and it isn’t money, because I know I pay my share each and every month.

Our city and county leaders must do better to put our community in a better economic and safe environment. We have the opportunity to be one of the greatest communities in the world, but we must start now to make that happen.

My family and I will continue to pray for Marshall County and our United States of America.

Thank you, Alan Stanford
