Bank of Holly Springs

Letter to the Editor

“...but appears the Wokeness has come to Holly Springs.”

To the Editor:

The recent decision made by the Holly Springs Garden Club not allowing the historic dresses to be worn in the Pilgrimage is unwarranted. I don’t know how this decision was made, but appears that Wokeness has come to Holly Springs. The Pilgrimage is a celebration of history and has nothing to do with politics. However, there appear to be those who want to change or cancel history. I was born here, and for more than 50 years, we have celebrated our history. My daughters, as well as many more young ladies, have looked forward to helping at the various historic houses in our city and wearing the dresses. Be assured that those who want to alter the way this celebration is done will not be satisfied with just changing the dresses; their goal is to cancel it altogether. I know most of those in the Garden Club, and I ask them to take a stand and change that decision.
