LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Examine our hearts

To the Editor: The biggest problem, yet solution, America has is a matter of the heart.

The Bible, in Luke 6:45, teaches "for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." If each person would truly search their heart and address the issues of their heart, much of the unrest we are experiencing would cease.

Many have either failed to see others through the eyes of love or have chosen to respond in hate. If our hearts are polluted with fear, then that fear will dictate how we think, speak and react to the next person. My prayer to God has been for Him to create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit within me. I ask Him to give me eyes to see His people the way He sees them and help me to love the way He loves. If we would see the next person through the eyes of love, then our actions, even if it's to bring correction, would be easier to receive. We need to examine our hearts and recognize that our fueling source may be tainted with fear or misinformation.

On last week, I saw a challenge that was given for us to take a R.I.S.K. by a young pastor named Michael Todd in Oklahoma. The challenge consists of:

• Relationship take time to get to know the people who aren't like you.

• Intentional be intentional with those you surround yourself with.

• Start at home/Speak up all our voices are needed.

• Knowledge do the work to educate yourself as well as creating a safe space for people to be educated.

This world won't change until we change and it starts with examining our hearts.

Sincerely, Autriniece Folsom, Catina Folsom Holly Springs
