Close to Nowhere
Do you have your Christmas decorations up yet? We are allowed by law now to talk about Christmas and listen to carols and put up decorations, as it’s after Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving was different this year, but still good. Neither of my brothers were here and daughter Dana wouldn’t come in the house, as usual. She’s an RN at the dialysis center in Holly Springs and says she’ll contaminate me. Both my brothers work at hospitals in Memphis, Tenn.. and that’s why they wouldn’t come.
But, my granddaughters Merideth and Remy, along with hubbies and babies, were here and it was good. Basically, as I’m not only a grandmother, but also a great-grandmother, as long as I see my “babies” I’m a happy camper.
I will say one thing about Thanksgiving – I am not going to eat another bite of dressing until next Thanks giving. I ate leftover dressing at least twice a day for at least three or four days. The last time I ate it, I swore I wasn’t eating another bite of dressing for at least a year.
I made turkey salad out of the leftover turkey and I’m still eating on that. I can eat turkey sandwiches forever I think.
But back to Christmas decorations. I’ve been enjoying seeing all the decorations posted on Facebook.
Facebook is keeping me (and I guess everyone else) connected to the “real” world.
Nephew Eric’s house is spectacular. His partner Donnie is an extremely talented florist and their house in Nashville, Tenn., is truly stunning. I lost count at six gorgeous trees.
All the decorations look so nice. Makes me really want to put mine up.
However...
My cat Hobbes Jr. thinks he’s a mountain lion. He climbs – on everything. A very young, manly cat (shhh, don’t tell him he’s been neutered), he’s sure he’s king of the hill around here. He won’t walk on the floor, he navigates a room by traveling on the furniture, shelves, me, whatever is off the floor.
I can just see him with a lit Christmas tree with dangly, sparkly things hanging off the branches.
I imagine that tree would spend a lot of time on the floor.
I made a quilted Christmas tree that I haven’t finished. I’d like to hang it, but of course I haven’t finished it. I may get busy this week and do it!
I also see on Facebook that COVID-19 is playing havoc in Marshall County
Please stay safe. Wear a mask and social distance and for heaven’s sake, do like your mama taught you and wash your hands!
¡Feliz Navidad!
