Let’s all spread joy for holidays

Dear Santa,

This year for Christmas, I want so much stuff.

First though, I’d like to offer my thanks for all the stuff I already have been given. Not being in the hospital this year for Christmas is probably tops on that list.

Son Kris and I have more than enough food, a roof over our heads and our house is crammed with good junk to play with.

But like most people in this world, I sure do want more stuff. I always want new Barbies. A girl can’t have enough Barbies.

From reading the Letters to Santa in this edition, iPhones are a popular item. I worry about very young children wanting a cell phone. When I was in first grade, I don’t think I ever used our rotary dial phone.

Four-wheelers are always popular and Nintendo stuff. “Frozen” stuff is big this year with little girls. Do they make an Elsa, Anna or Olaf Barbie? That would be way cool.

Distant relatives Lauren and Pud (Keith) have all they ever wanted for Christmas with their miracle baby. After a few health scares and a brief stint in the NICU, Mom, Dad and baby Wyatt are at home for Christmas. I can only imagine the joy in that house this year.

Joy is a good thing. Somehow, we all need to spread a little joy around wherever we can. There are many people for whom the holidays are full of grief and pain. Almost all of us will be missing some muchloved person over the holidays.

Youngest granddaughter Remy always has a hard time. She misses Pop sorely. Her mother-in-law offered her some great advice that we all need to heed. Remember the good times, the love and the happiness. Tell funny stories about silly stuff. Sing the songs Pop loved to hear her sing. Take joy in the remembering and feel the love.

I think we can all take her advice.

Oh, and Santa, one more thing – how about a hoverboard?

Merry Christmas to all and God bless us every one!
