Missing church; feeling better

Some folks from my church came to see me Sunday after church. I miss church more and more and I was so glad to see my friend Jane and our pastor Bro. John Maci.

Our church building is old, built in the 1940s. Free Springs started out in the 1860s as a brush arbor. The building now is the third one, after fire and a tornado destroyed the first two. Methodists never give up and our church was rebuilt a third time. I love the seats, they came from a defunct movie theater in Oxford. We still have one of the old, original pews though.

If our sanctuary wasn’t on the second floor, I could probably go to church some. But we have a steep flight of concrete stairs in the front and stairs are just more than I can manage. We do have a nice, handicap ramp at the side, but it’s pretty steep and I’m scared to try it.

Oldest grandson-in-law Tim made me feel much better. We were talking about having the baby, Ruby June, christened and Tim said, “Don’t worry Bumpy, I move 1,000-pound boxes all day at work. I’ll get you up that ramp.”

He had no clue why I was laughing.

Both my granddaughters are moving. The oldest, Merideth, and husband Tim are moving to a house in Coldwater from Olive Branch. I think they and the most wonderful great-grandchildren in the world, are going to be a little bit closer. Mere has promised me lunch as soon as they get settled in.

My brain still thinks of her as about 12-14. The very competent woman she has grown into still amazes me.

Youngest granddaughter Remy and new husband Mitch are moving from a third floor apartment in Southaven to a house in Oxford. A good friend of Mitch’s has a commercial vegetable and fruit patch out there and Remy is going to take care of that. I can’t wait to be able to tell her to bring me vegetables and stuff – personal delivery at its best!

Things are very different at my house now. Health and dialysis have changed so much. But I’m getting better slowly but surely. I’m hoping to be hanging around a whole lot longer! If you are so inclined, please keep me in your prayers.
