Perfect night for Bikers and Blues; be sure and cast your ballot Aug. 6

Thursday night, the Bikers and Blues Music Series on the square hosted Zack McAlexander and his band, Brimstone Jones. The weather cooperated and it was a perfect night. The square was packed with locals and “Pancho” fans alike. The band played on into the night and had folks literally dancing in the street. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen, including packed stadiums.

If you have never seen Brimstone Jones, finding where they are playing should be on your bucket list. Not only did they absolutely kill cover tunes, they played original songs that got the crowd going, as well. Zack is what I consider a “local fella,” the son of Karla Cline and Lyla and Doug McAlexander. A rare talent we were fortunate enough to see live, thanks to the Holly Springs Main Street Chamber.

It is once again time to cast your ballot for local and statewide elections. Every vote counts and the seats up for grabs in this election are of the utmost importance. If you do not know the candidates, please make an effort to look into them this last week before the primaries.

There are a lot of well-qualified individuals running, some incumbents and some new. Listen to their platforms and not necessarily their promises. If you do not vote, then there is no reason to gripe down the road because you are not happy with how one person performs in their elected position. Flood the polls and show the state that Marshall County cares!
