Willie Lucas Sr.

Willie Lucas Sr. , 91, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 4, 2020, at his home. The widower of Mattie Johnson Lucas, he was a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church where he served on the deacon board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was retired from Clay Products of Holly Springs.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Pleasant Grove MB Church Cemetery in Red Banks. Pastor Alberoderick Neely officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves three daughters, Annie Omega Hardaway of Chicago, Ill., Virginia Lucas Lasenby of Boling Brook, Ill., Patricia Lucas of Holly Springs; five sons, Vaccaro Bell, Willie Lucas Jr., both of Maywood, Ill., LuQuinton Lucas of Huntsville, Ala., John Edward Lucas of Holly Springs, Wilfred Lucas of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Rosie Mae McCoy of Memphis, Tenn., Mattie Garza of Victoria, Helen Taylor of Olive Branch; four brothers, Rufus Lucas Jr., Andrew Lucas, Walter Lucas, all of Victoria, Lester Lucas of Memphis; 30 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Strauther Bell Jr. and Willie Lee Bell.
