William L. "Elbert" Phillips

William L. "Elbert" Phillips, 84, of Chulahoma, formerly of Detroit, Mich., died December 29, 2021, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Shady Grove CME Church of Holly Springs where he served as church treasurer. He was retired from Chrysler Motor Corp of Detroit.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Jan. 5, 2022 from 3-5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Jan. 6 at Shady Grove CME Church Cemetery. Pastor Mildred Mitchell will officiate.

He leaves two daughters, Belvia McNeal of Olive Branch, Tonia Dotson of Detroit; two sisters, Rose Hawthorne of Chicago, Ill., Ruby Ceal Powell of Racine, Wisc.; three brothers, Robert W. Phillips of Lexington, William B. Phillips, Frank C. Phillips, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a special friend, Gracie Patton of Southaven; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Mae Jones, Elnora Hawthorne Caldwell and Curtis Phillips.
