William A. "Billy" Nichols

William A. "Billy" Nichols, of Byhalia, was born on May 9, 1925, in Memphis, Tenn. His parents were Jack E. Nichols and Allein Smith Nichols. He was the second of two sons. He was married for 72 wonderful years to his loving wife, Fannie Mae Henley Nichols. He was a faithful deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Byhalia for some 70 years. He worked for Northcentral Electric Cooperative for more than four decades.

He passed from this life on October 16, 2019. He is survived by two children, Jerry, and his wife, Betsy, of Byhalia, Miss.; and Nell, and her husband, Jeff, of Baton Rouge, LA; by four grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna, Jordan, and Zachary; and by four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, Marion, and his grandson, Jeffrey. Billy proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and actually landed on Utah Beach as a part of the D-Day Invasion. He and Fannie Mae both had their private pilot licenses. They loved traveling and were quite adventurous. He was loving, joyous, and faithful. Visitation was held Friday, October 18, 2019, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service began at 11 a.m., all at Byhalia First Baptist Church, 2555 Church St., Byhalia, Miss. Brantley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
