William Bart Likes Sr.

William Bart Likes Sr. went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2021. He was a Baptist. He was born in Memphis, Tenn., at the Army Hospital on Dec. 31, 1944 to the late Virgil Likes and Elna Dowty Likes. He served his country in the Army 1964-1968 as a specialist with an honorable discharge on August 31, 1968.

Along with his parents death he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann TenBusschen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley M. Likes of 56 years; their children, Teri Howell (Tim), Michael Likes Houston (Cindy), Melody Burton (Ronnie), William B. Likes Jr. (Susan), William "Brian" Likes (Sheri), William "Billy" Likes (Wendy); stepchildren, Janice Gifford, Patti Hottendorf (Steve), Kenneth A. Downing, Paul Downing Sr. (Debbie), Dale Downing (Tiffany), Peggy Likes and his darling pomeranian dogs, Ginger and Roxy; 36 grandchildren, over 50 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He loved watching his grandsons, Jacob Likes play for Memphis Tigers and Joshua Likes playing for Briarcrest High School.

He was a certified diesel mechanic and driver for Jeff Browning Construction and Family, which he loved as family.

I want to "THANK" everyone involved ­ paramedics, police and firemen for coming at any hour, day or night, to give care to my husband "William B. Likes Sr." in our time of need.
